Sir Edmund Hillary was the first one to reach the summit of Mt Everest and but not the first to climb Mt Everest but George Mallory was the first one to climb Mt Everest and he died cause of mountaineering but after climbing Mt Everest Hillary became interested in mountaineering while in secondary school. He made his first major climb in 1939, reaching the summit of Mount Olivier. He served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a navigator during World War II.
